Opening Day – Barangaroo Reserve
The 22 hectare, $6 billion Barangaroo precinct will help redefine the western edge of Sydney Harbour and be a lasting legacy for future generations. Barangaroo will provide space for over 24,000 permanent jobs, generate approximately $2 billion per annum to the NSW economy and provide over 11 hectares of newly accessible public domain. The site’s three redevelopment areas: Barangaroo Reserve, Central Barangaroo, and Barangaroo South combine recreational, commercial development with residential, and civic spaces, to create a stimulating network of new landmarks on Sydney’s waterfront.
Once finished in 2022, half of Barangaroo will be public space, encompassing a continuous 2.5 kilometre waterfront walkway, new parks, plazas and coves – all connected to the central business district and wider Sydney through new transport links, including a ferry hub and a Metro station.
On August 22, 2015, Barangaroo Reserve was the first phase in the 3-district master plan to open.
