Desi approaches the practice of landscape architecture not as a list of answers to a problem, but a series of questions about a site, diving deep into the project’s people, history, ecology, and impact.
Raised in Miami, Florida, his perspective is inspired by the intersection of urban development, social systems, and extinct/existing ecologies. His approach to design explores these dynamics by prioritizing cultural and environmental sensitivity, seeking to encourage new relationships between people, land, and water. Desi received his bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture from the University of Florida, where he was awarded the Florida ASLA Student Award of Honor. His undergraduate thesis, titled “The Invisible Meadow: A Perceptive Approach to Seagrass Restoration,” was awarded the ASLA Student Award of Excellence in General Design.
