PWP Announced as Master Landscape Architect for San Francisco's Parkmerced
Earlier this year PWP and several other internationally-recognized firms were invited to compete for the role of Master Landscape Architect for Phase 1A and 1B for San Francisco's Parkmerced Project. PWP is proud to announce that on Oct. 3rd we were announced as the winning team.
Originally constructed in the post-war era with landscapes from Thomas Church and Robert Royston, Parkmerced is a 150-acre residential community along the south-western edge of San Francisco near Lake Merced. PWP's role as Master Landscape Architect will stitch together the layered legacy of Parkmerced's landscape, architecture, culture and scenery. The first phase focuses on approximately 15 acres of the site. The project will center on increasing density, adding new towers, reducing car parking, increasing car-sharing, on-site stormwater management, and enhancing urban nodes for visitors without trespassing on the private space of residents. PWP will be working with SOM, Woods Bagot and a group of local architects who will design the first phase of new towers.

PWP Partner Adam Greenspan will lead a tour from 1:00-3:00pm of the Newport Beach Civic Center & Park.
The existing site required significant technical effort to allow for the realization of successful horticultural conditions. The park is conceived as a series of planting characters that respond to both design program and existing conditions, linked by a series of meandering paths. Civic gardens adjacent to City Hall in the southern portion of the site transition to park land made up of multiple meadows, habitat for native flora and fauna, trails, bridges over an existing wetland, and extensive native California planting.
Reservations are required and may be obtained via the link below.
